The New Rules of Manifesting
Before I got into personal development, I would spend a lot of time thinking about how to achieve my goals. When I got into personal development, it was more of the same. Instead now the word ‘achieve’ was replaced with ‘manifest’. These days, you can’t move without someone mentioning manifesting – and yet there’s more confusion than ever. Same approach, different words. It was all about trying to get something that I hadn’t got – it was a constant feeling of not being enough in the present moment. Same result – nothing changed and my goals remained always a few steps ahead. Personal development seemed to be taking way too long.
Like many people, I read a lot of books – many of them repeating concepts which came from earlier writings – some obscure, some better known. Books that told you how you could attract your best life through thinking positive thoughts, or visualizing what you want – there was lots of information that seemed to contradict itself and more importantly it wasn’t working that well. Not just for me, but for most everyone I encountered. It’s the same today – in fact there’s even more confusion. One of the reasons – and what’s little known – is that some of those concepts that get repeated were never effective to begin with. Reading the life stories of some of the most popular teachers of-the-time didn’t inspire me. I knew there was still something missing and I had to look deeper for answers.
Finding a New Programme
Knowing I had a lot to bring to the subject, I took my time before releasing my first book. I didn’t want to publish anything until I knew that the information was accurate and it was proven to work for people. I just didn’t want to mislead anyone like I had been myself. So after facilitating over 500 study groups where I was seeing results for the first time, I began to write about what was working.
Firstly I released Lighthouse (titled Emotional First Aid in its second edition) which is about how to deal with intense emotions and find your centre. And then, several years later I released Feel Better, No Matter What which is a comprehensive collection of my teachings to-date, predominantly taken from what I had developed facilitating my popular workshops over a fifteen year period. I’ve seen thousands of people improve their life experience – and the approach they used can be found in this book, covering all areas of life.
Since I released Feel Better, No Matter What I’ve been asked by readers and publishers to write more books including something definitive about how to manifest your ideal life, but I was in no rush to do so. Feel Better, No Matter What has been described as “the only self help book you’ll ever need” – and so my advice to readers is to more deeply apply what you are reading.
And so it’s less about constant theorising and more about putting it into practice. Rather than producing dozens more videos, books and articles, I was guided to keep it simple. I will be doing occasional in-depth practical, experiential workshops and groups – it’s hugely helpful to do the processes together with likeminded people and get that support. I’m also expanding my focus in different areas I’m passionate about – and applying the work in these areas.
I’ve always said that hiring a coach can speed things up and provide real benefits. I highly recommend it – and many successful people have coaches for this reason. People have also said my books “comes to life” when combined with my coaching. I also share my latest, previously unpublished insights in the sessions.
